Updated 2026-10-16
Touch typing means typing with all ten fingers without looking at the keyboard. It is the single biggest step from “hunt and peck” (usually 15–30 WPM) to exam-level speed.

How to learn
- Learn the home row until you can type “asdf jkl;” without looking.
- Add one row at a time: top row, then bottom row, then numbers.
- Keep accuracy above 95% — speed comes later on its own.
- Cover your hands with a cloth if you keep glancing down.
- Practise daily for 15–20 minutes for at least three weeks.
